Robert Altieri, CPA Partner

Robert has provided tax and advisory services to professional investors and entrepreneurs for over a decade.  Robert advises his clients on a wide variety of issues including tax planning for private equity acquisitions and dispositions, cross-border investments, and financial products.  

Prior to re-joining FLSV in 2018, Robert served as a Tax Manager at Centerbridge Partners, L.P., where he worked on Centerbridge’s distressed debt and special situation funds dealing with a wide range of tax matters, including U.S. and non-U.S. debt investments, portfolio company restructurings, bankruptcy, direct lending, international tax planning, and private equity investments.  Prior to Centerbridge, Robert spent four years at Deloitte Tax, where he advised private equity funds and general partners of asset management firms on income tax matters.  

Robert received a bachelor’s degree in accounting from James Madison University, where he played varsity baseball.  He also completed a Master of Science in Taxation degree from SUNY-Old Westbury.  He is a member of the New York State Society of Certified Public Accountants (NYSSCPA).

Fanny Chu, EA Principal

Fanny joined FLSV in 1996 and has over twenty-five years of experience in public accounting providing accounting, tax, general business consulting, and special project services such as analysis for mergers and acquisitions and tax structuring.  Focused primarily on general accounting and income tax compliance, her career has centered around closely-held business, middle-market, family-owned businesses, private equity funds, investment funds, and high net-worth individuals.  Fanny has served clients in a wide variety of industries including public relations, strategic lending, media and entertainment, real estate and rental management, manufacturing and distribution, e-commerce and technology, financial services, law firms, and other service businesses.  Her diverse experience has allowed her to be effective in supporting her clients whether providing consultation on accounting and administrative issues, tax planning strategies with a focus on day-to-day compliance issues including federal, state local, and international partnership and corporate tax filings or other business management matters.  Her accounting experience enables her to provide relevant and timely advice and assistance to business owners with their internal accounting, periodic reporting, forecasting, budgeting, and business development.

Fanny received her Bachelor degree in Accounting from Pace University.

Adam Fisher, CPA, JD Partner

Adam is a partner at FLSV in the Business Tax Services Group.  Adam provides tax advisory and compliance services to private equity funds, investment entities, real estate companies, insurance companies, family offices, closely held businesses, management companies, and high-net worth individuals, among others.  Adam advises clients on a wide array of Federal, state, and local tax matters, including pass-through entity and corporate matters, domestic entity structuring, mergers and acquisitions, business formation and succession planning, inbound and outbound structuring, prospective tax planning, and international tax planning and analysis covering controlled foreign corporations and partnerships, passive foreign investment companies, branch operations, withholding taxes, and foreign tax credits.

Prior to joining FLSV, Adam was a Tax Director at PricewaterhouseCoopers LLP in the Banking, Capital Markets, and Insurance tax practice.

Adam earned a Bachelor of Science in Accounting from Binghamton University and his Juris Doctor from Benjamin N. Cardozo School of Law.  He is licensed as a Certified Public Accountant in the State of New York and is admitted to the bar in the State of New York and State of New Jersey.  Adam is a member of the American Institute of Certified Public Accountants.  He is also a member of the New York State Society of Certified Public Accountants, including serving on the Partnerships and LLCs, C Corporations, and International Taxation committees.

Alan is a founding partner of FLSV and co-manages FLSV’s Business Tax Services Group and the high net-worth individuals tax services group for business owners, entrepreneurs and fund managers. Alan has directed and managed FLSV since inception with his founding partners. Alan’s clients include several private equity and venture capital funds, hedge funds and their respective principals. Alan advises his clients on numerous aspects of transactional services including business formation and fund structuring, tax structuring, business mergers and acquisitions, succession planning, partial monetization and full monetization sales transactions, companies seeking investment capital, business financing, cash management, PFIC and CFC tax analyses, evaluating the impact of check-the-box (CTB) elections, cross-border transactions, qualified small business stock, tax planning for management companies and general partner entities, partnership, S corporation, and individual tax planning strategies, accounting matters and general business advisory services. Alan received his B.A. in Accounting from Queens College, earned his Master’s degree in Taxation from Fordham University and completed the certificate of financial planning program at New York University. Alan also recently earned a Certificate of Higher Education in History from the University of Oxford.

Alan is a member of the American Institute of Certified Public Accountants and the New York State Society of Certified Public Accountants (NYSSCPA) and is the former chair of the Closely Held and S Corporation Tax Committee.

Iraida Strokovskaya, CPA Partner

Iraida is a Partner in FLSV’s Business Tax Services Group and has provided tax compliance, advisory and consulting services for over 25 years.  Her clients include private equity funds and their respective management and general partner entities, closely-held entrepreneurial businesses and wide variety of middle-market companies.  Iraida’s clients operate in such industries as food manufacturing and wholesale, music publishing, entertainment, TV production, financial services and investments.  She advises clients on federal, state, local and international partnership and corporate tax matters, accounting issues, mergers and acquisitions and tax structuring.  Iraida conducts state nexus studies, PFIC and CFC analyses for US clients investing overseas, qualified small business stock analysis; advises international clients on use of US corporate blockers for investments involving ECI and FIRPTA issues and provides support for day-to-day tax compliance and tax planning strategies.

Iraida also works closely with her client’s business owners and high net-worth individuals on individual tax planning strategies including business succession planning, estate and gift planning transfers, investment holding company structures, family limited partnerships and trust planning.

Hyejin Tak, JD, MA Partner

Hyejin has been a member of FLSV’s Business Tax Services Group since 2008.  She provides tax compliance, advisory, and consulting services for her clients, which include private equity funds and their GP and management company entities, investment partnerships and alternative investment vehicles, distressed debt funds, investment banking and M&A advisory firms, other financial services companies, and entrepreneurial businesses.

Hyejin specializes in the taxation of domestic and cross-border investments and dispositions including “choice of entity” structuring matters, international and domestic mergers and acquisitions, the taxation of financial instruments, and structuring tax-efficient strategies for pass-through entities and corporate groups.  She has also conducted numerous multistate tax nexus analyses resulting from pass-through portfolio investments.  Hyejin employs a holistic approach with her clients and guides them through all stages of the private equity fund life cycle: pre-launch, ongoing operations, and winding down with an eye toward the successful launch of the successor fund.  She also advises her clients regularly on entity and partner level reporting issues related to the FATCA and CRS reporting regimes.

A magna cum laude graduate of Columbia University’s Columbia College, Hyejin received her BA in psychology.  At Columbia, Hyejin accepted a membership to Phi Beta Kappa.  She received her MA from Columbia University’s Graduate School of Arts & Sciences and earned her JD from the University of Minnesota Law School with magna cum laude honors.  Hyejin’s professional affiliations includes the ABA, AICPA, and NYSSPA.

Charles is a founding partner of FLSV and co-manages FLSV’s Business Services Group.  Charles has provided tax and advisory services to closely held businesses, investment partnerships, private equity funds, hedge funds, family offices, real estate investment funds, family-owned businesses and high-net worth individuals for over thirty years.  Charles has extensive experience in providing federal, state, local and international tax structuring, compliance, and planning services to hedge fund investment managers, private equity funds, venture capital funds, family offices and middle market businesses.

Charles advises his clients on a wide variety of issues including business formation and tax structuring, mergers and acquisitions, federal, state and local corporate and partnership tax matters and tax planning strategies, accounting and administration issues, compensation structuring, ECI and FDAP withholding, business development and advisory services and estate and inter-generational planning.  Charles has written articles and has lectured at professional conferences on tax and planning issues for investment partnerships, closely held businesses and high net worth individuals.

Prior to founding FLSV in 1995, Charles was an executive in the New York Office of Ernst & Young, where he provided tax and advisory services to middle market and investment partnership clientele.

Patty is a Partner of FLSV who joined the firm at its inception and formerly worked at Morgan Stanley, where she oversaw the personal taxes and financial planning of its executives.  Patty brings with her more than 32 years of experience assisting high-net-worth individuals and families plan their finances and minimize their tax burdens. Her areas of expertise are many: compensatory stock options, tax treatment of hedging techniques, diversified portfolio management, strategic tax planning for entrepreneurs in private equities and venture capital funds, retirement planning, family office tax services, residency issues and everything related to gifts, trusts and foundations.  Patty’s clients include many high-profile executives, entrepreneurs, and venture capitalists who have been working with her for two or three decades.
